How Power Wheels made us all use its name to refer to Ride on Cars

Many items we use every day, like zippers and escalators, were once brand names, like Kleenex or Jacuzzi.These names are or were trademarked, but are now often used to describe any brand in a product category and today we tell you the case related to the Ride on Cars universe.

You may have been wanting to buy a Ride on Car for your child lately and have been doing your research on the internet,  googling terms like "fastest power wheels" or "power wheels jeep", referring to a type of toy.

But did you kno that Power Wheels is actually a brand? Yes! This famous Battery Powered Ride on Cars company has been manufacturing this type of motorized toys for decades! Let us tell you a bit of his story:

The product itself was created by an Italian company, Peg-Perego, which started up in 1949. Peg-Perego eventually began using gel cell batteries in their wheeled machines, and the product line was launched. The brand evolved and grow up firmly and it wasn't until 1986 that the name Power Wheels gave the product line its title and was stablished as an actual brand.

Four years after, by 1990, sales of the battery powered toy cars noted over 1 million per year, becoming one of the strongest companies in the market and reaching thousands of homes around the world, making a lot of children happy who still today continue experiencing the magic of driving this kind of vehicles.


That is why the name Power Wheels is so well known and many of us use it to refer to Ride on Cars in general. It is part of our lives and it will surely continue to be so for many years to come.
